Engle

Angels

We live in a time when people - both Christians and non -Christians are fascinated by angels . Wherever you travel in a big city , you will see many stores with a substantial supply of these heavenly creatures .
Unfortunately, much of what we see and read today, based on half truths . We have much literature on angels , which is a combination of mythology , beliefs from pagan religions and New Age philosophies - all in all , it is not only confusing but also far from biblical teachings .

Hvem er englene, og hvad laver de?

Hvem er englene, og hvad laver de?

Kol.1,16

Sal.103,20

Pris Herren, I hans engle,
I stærke krigere, der udfører hans befaling
i lydighed mod hans ord.

Heb.12,22

Luk.15,7
Jeg siger jer: Sådan bliver der større glæde i himlen over én synder, der omvender sig, end over nioghalvfems retfærdige, som ikke har brug for omvendelse.

Mark.12,25

Who are the angels and what do they do?

Who are the angels and what do they do ?

Kol.1 , 16
In him all things were created
in heaven and on earth,
the visible and invisible ,
thrones or dominions ,
principalities and powers .
For him and for him all things were created .
Yes , like everything else in heaven and on earth, the angels created by Jesus . If we want to find in the Bible , we find many details about them.

Sal.103 , 20
Praise the Lord , you his angels ,
In strong warriors who do his commandments
in obedience to his word .

Heb.12 , 22
No , I have come to Mount Zion , to the vibrant city of God , the heavenly Jerusalem , to thousands of angels , a festive gathering .

Luk.15 , 7
I say unto you, there is more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous who do not need repentance .

Mark.12 , 25
For when the dead arise , so neither marry themselves or married off , but are like angels in heaven .

1.Kor.6 , 3
Know ye not that we shall judge angels , not to speak of earthly affairs?

Can we imagine the scene in heaven ? which thousands of angels are gathered before God's throne to join in the joy of repentance of one sinner - mighty creatures but one day be judged by Christians ?

Angels are ministering spirits

But who are the angels ? Why were they created ? We are perhaps the most apt description of angels in Hebrews .

Heb.1 , 14
All the angels is only ministering spirits, sent forth to help those who will inherit salvation .

The author of Hebrews writes about angels . " He makes his angels winds and his servants flames of fire. "

Heb.1 , 7
About the Angels says :
He makes his angels to win
and his servants flames of fire .

Because our loving God knew the hardships and difficulties we would encounter on earth , He created the angels as his messengers , primarily to help and protect us .

Engle beskytter de retfærdige

Engle beskytter de retfærdige

Sal.91,11-12

Angels protect the righteous

Sal.91, 11-12
for he will give his angels charge
to guard you in all your ways.
They will carry you on hands
so you will not dash your foot against a stone .

From the day God banished Adam and Eve from Eden , God's people have been protected by these angels.

We have another remarkable image . When the king of Aram was at war with Israel , he sent a strong army out to encircle the city . Elijah serves as the troops and was appalled , but Elisha prayed , and the waiter's eyes were opened . When he looked up he saw the mountains filled the Lord's horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha . This is just one of the serious crisis situations where the Lord sent an army of angels to protect and save Israel .

      »Se, du er med barn;
      du skal føde en søn
      og give ham navnet Ismael,
for Herren har hørt din lidelse.
       Han skal blive
      et vildæsel af et menneske;

Engle served in the Old Testament

Long before the Bible recounts, however, in the Old Testament on several cases of angel's presence. In fact, we see angels protect and serve Jesus ancestors and those they were involved with in their lives. As the patriarch Abraham left his homeland, gave Gus him a mighty promise.

1.Mos.15,5
So he took him outside and said: 'Look at the sky and count the stars if you can. "And he said:" So shall your descendants be. "

As years passed and his wife Sarai had no children, lost his faith, and Abram took his wife's maidservant Hagar as a wife. When Hagar became pregnant, Sarai was jealous, and she treated her so badly that Hagar fled.
God sent an angel to Hagar to tell her that she should go back to Abram and Sarai.

1.Mos.16,7-12
Angel of the Lord found her by a source in the desert source by way of Shure. He said, "Hagar, Sarai maidservant, where you come from and where are you going?" She replied: "I am fleeing from my mistress Sarai." But the Lord's angel said to her: "Go back to your mistress, and
Find yourself in her treatment. "And the Lord's angel said to her:" I will make your descendants so numerous that they can not be counted. "And the angel of the Lord said to her:
      "Behold, you are with child;

you will give birth to a son

and call his name Ishmael,

the Lord has heard your suffering.

He must be

a wild donkey of a man;

his hand shall be turned against all

and everyone's hand against him;

he must live across all of its brothers. "

Hagar returned to Sarai and Abram, and gave birth to the son, as the angel had foretold. This son was Ishmael, and he is considered the "father" to the Arab people. Many more years passed and when Abram (now Abraham) was 99 years old, he still had not received his promised offspring.
One day there appeared three guests (angels) up with him.

1.Mos.18,10
He said: "Next year at this time I come back to you, and so has your wife Sara a son!" Sarah was listening in tent door behind him.

After their son Isaac was born, there was competition between the two boys, and Abraham sent Hagar and Ishmael away. As they wandered in the desert, an angel spoke again to Hagar and promised that God would make Ishmael a great nation. Although Ishmael never be Abraham's heir, so God left him, and he comforted his mother.
In the old Testsamente there are other stories about angels who help and protect God's people and often brings them good news.

It was an angel who spoke out of a burning bush to Moses to tell him that he should go to Egypt and lead Israel to freedom from the country and an angel was a tool of liberation. It was also an angel who instructed Moses successor `Joshua and other Israeli leaders.

      rubin, topas og månesten,
      krysolit, shoham og jaspis,
      safir, granat og smaragd;

      jeg gjorde dig til beskytter;

Ez.10,8-22

Es.6,2-4

Serafer stod omkring ham.

How do the angels out

We have much to learn about angels initial ranking of the Old Testament books. Isaiah` book Ezikiels Book and Book of Daniel. You may have wondered how exactly angels look like. It may be that you have imagined them as celestial, serene creatures dressed in long robes. But this picture is largely produced by medieval artists and sculptures rather than from the Bible.

Ez.28.12-14
Man, sing a lament over Tyre king and say to him: Thus says the Lord God:
You were the seal of perfection,
full of wisdom and perfect beauty.  You were in Eden, in God's garden.
All kinds of precious stones sat on your suit:
ruby, topaz and moonstone,
chrysolite, onyx and jasper,
sapphire, garnet and emerald;
hammered and decorated art work in gold
were placed on you the day you were born.
You were an anointed cherub,
I made you protect;
you were on the holy gudebjerg,
you walked among the sparkling stones.

Bible Teachers believe that these verses refer to Satan before his fall.

Though the Bible does not specifically tell about angels look, so it gives us a description of the cherubim, one of the highest rank in angels.
Ezekiel has this to tell us.

Ez.10.8-22
During the cherubim wings came something shaped like a human hand appeared. I saw four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel by each cherub, and the wheels looked like sparkling chrysolite. They saw all four the same, and it seemed as if there was placed a wheel inside the wheel. When the cherubim went, the wheels could move in all four directions and they turned not when they went. For they followed the direction of head turning, and they were not where they went. Throughout their body, their backs, their hands, their wings and the wheels were full of eyes, who sat around on all four of them on wheels. I heard that the wheels were called Galgal. Each had four faces: the first was a kerubansigt, the other a human face, the third a lion's face and the fourth an eagle's face. And cherubim rose up. It was the same creature that I had seen on the river Chebar. When the cherubim went, the wheels moved beside them, and when the cherubim lifted their wings to rise from the earth, the wheels were not lost. When they stood still, the wheels were too quiet, and when they rose, closed the wheels moved with them to the living being's spirit was in them. Lord's glory left now threshold of the temple and stood over the cherubim. As I looked at it, lifted the cherubim their wings and rose from the ground, and the wheels came with.
They stood in østporten to Lord Temple, and Israel's glory was above them.
It was the same creature that I had seen the God of Israel by the river Chebar and I understood that it was cherubs. Each had four faces and four wings and under the wings something like human hands. Their faces looked like and looked like the faces I had seen on the river Chebar.
They each went straight forward.

Another high ranking of angels are seraphim.
We find the description of the seraphim in Isaiah `Book.

Es.6,2-4
Seraphim stood around him. They each had six wings, with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two they flew.
They yelled at each other:

"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts,

the whole earth is full of his glory! "
Their cries were dørtappene to shake and the house was filled with smoke.

Another description of a creature that we must assume is an angel, we find in Daniel.

Dan.10,5-6
I raised his eyes and saw a man wearing a linen suit with a belt of Ufaz-gold on the lower back. His body was like chrysolite, his face shone like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and his feet were like polished copper.
When he spoke, it sounded like a crowd.

The "man" had been sent by God to tell Daniel what the future would happen to Israel.

Englene betjente Jesus

Englene betjente Jesus

Luk.1,30-33
 Da sagde englen til hende: »Frygt ikke, Maria! For du har fundet nåde for Gud. Se, du skal blive med barn og føde en søn, og du skal give ham navnet Jesus.  Han skal blive stor og kaldes den Højestes søn, og Gud Herren skal give ham hans fader Davids trone;

Matt.2,13-14

Angels are messengers Jesus

The Bible tells of three cases before the birth of Jesus, where detn actually angels who played a role in some people's lives.

Zechariah was a priest and married the childless Elizabeth, who was a virgin Mariaas cousin. Elizabeth was barren and sadly, the couple are now both old and childless.
One day, while Zacharias was on his switch to the temple, an angel appeared to him.

Luk.1,13-17
But the angel said unto him: 'Fear not, Zacharias! For your prayer is heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and thou shalt call his name John. He shall be to thee joy and gladness, and many shall rejoice at his birth, for he shall be great before the Lord, he must not drink wine and beer, but he should be filled with the Holy Spirit right from the womb, and many of the children of Israel he shall bring back to the Lord their God.
He will go before him in Elijah's spirit and power to turn hearts of the fathers to their children and give disobey a just mind and get the Lord a people made ready. "

Luk.1, 19
As the angel said to him: "I am Gabriel, that stand before God and I am sent to speak to you and bring you this good news.

Some time after it showed the same angel, Gabriel, appeared to Mary.

Gabriel said to her.

Luk.1,30-33
As the angel said to her: "Fear not, Mary! For you have found favor with God. Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus.
He shall be great and is called the Most High Son, and the Lord God will give him his father David's throne, and he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever, and there will be no end to his kingdom. "

Mary asked a question

Luk.1,34-35

Mary said to the angel: "How can that be? I've never been with a man. "The angel answered her:" The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the highest power will overshadow you.
Therefore, the child who is born will be called holy, Son of God.

It is true that nothing is impossible with God. Shortly thereafter Mary discovered that she was pregnant.
But before her fiance Joseph could divorce her, an angel appeared to him in a dream.

Matt.1,19-21
Her husband Joseph was upright and did not want to bring her into disrepute, but decided to divorce her quietly. While he thought about this, behold, the Lord's angel appeared to him in a dream and said: 'Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife for the child, she waits, was conceived by the Holy Spirit .
She will give birth to a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. "

The night Jesus was born, the angels showed themselves also to the shepherds in the nearby fields. After the birth of Jesus tried the reigning King Herod to find the child so he could get him killed.
But again grabbed God through an angel.

Matt.2,13-14
When they had gone, behold, the Lord's angel appeared in a dream to Joseph, saying: 'Arise, take the child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. For Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. "And he stood up, and while it was still night, he took the child and his mother and went to Egypt.
And there he was, until Herod was dead, that it might be fulfilled which the Lord has spoken through the prophet, saying: "From Egypt I called my son."

Although it is much probability that Jesus had other encounters with angels in his hordiske life, the Bible recounts only in two cases. The first was after Satan had tempted him in 40 days.
"Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and took care of him."

The second angel's visit was in the garden of Gethsemane shortly before Jesus was arrested.

Luk.22,41-43
So he went so far as a stone's throw, knelt down and prayed: Father, if you're willing to do, take this cup of suffering away from me. But your will be done, not mine.
As an angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.

Jesus also referred tilengle when his friends tried to protect him against the soldiers came to arrest Him in Gethsemane Garden.

Matt.26,52-53
Then Jesus said to him: "Put your sword into its sheath For all who take the sword shall fall by the sword.
Or do not you think that I can ask my father on the spot to give me more than twelve legions of angels to help?

One of the prettiest incidents happened at the meeting with angelic women who went to Jesus' tomb on treid day efte His death.
They found the tomb empty.

Luk.24,4-8
While they stood there not knowing what to believe, there was suddenly in front of them two men in shining garments. The women were terrified and bowed with his face toward the ground, but the men said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, he is risen.
Remember how he spake unto you, while he was yet in Galilee, saying that the Son of man should be surrendered in the hands of sinful men and be crucified and rise on the third day. 'Then they remembered his words.

Another appearance of angels associated with the return of Jesus and is described in the Apostles dozen works.

Apg.1,10-11
As they stared at the sky while he drove away, behold, there stood two men in white robes with them. They said: 'Why do you stand and look skyward, Galileans? The Jesus who was taken from you into heaven, will come again in the same manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. "

Engle betjente den nye menighed

Engle betjente den nye menighed

Apg.10,1,3-4

Engle served the new congregation

Angels served the new congregation

Apg.10,3-4
In Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, who was an officer in a military unit called the Italian. He was pious and devout, like all his household, he gave the people many alms and prayed continually to God.

One day around about the ninth hour he saw clearly in a vision God's angel came to him and said, "Cornelius," He stared at the angel and asked, horrified: "What is it, sir?" The angel said to him: Your prayers and your alms have ascended to God and remembered him. Now, send some people to Joppa after a man named Simon, called Peter. He is staying with Simon tanner, whose house is by the sea."

Meanwhile, Peter a vision from the Lord. After the vision the Holy Spirit told him that three pagan men asked for him and that he should take with them.

Peter turned the men back to Cornelius `house where Cornelius had called together his relatives and closest friends. There he explained to them about Jesus. even while he spoke, the Holy Spirit came upon all those who heard the service, and they began to speak in new tongues and praising God. They were all baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

Another incident relates to the Apostle Paul. After he had traveled throughout Asia, Paul was eventually captured and sent to Rome. On their journey there, broke a terrible storm loose. The soldiers planned to throw overboard Paul, but he stopped them by telling a dream.

Apg.27,21-26
Peter went down to the men and said: 'It's me, I have requested. Why have you come? "They said: 'The officer Cornelius, a righteous and pious man and well regarded by the entire Jewish people have a holy angel had bid to let you get to his house and hear what you have to say. 'So he invited them inside and entertained them. Next day he broke up and went away with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa went with him.

The day after they came to Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and closest friends. When Peter was about to go in, come Cornelius met him and fell at his feet and worshiped him. But Peter told him to stand up and said, 'Get up, I am a human being. "

The men believed in Paul and saved his life. Had it not been for the angel's intervention, would Paul have been killed and we would possibly never have been been blessed with many of his writings. So would the whole first church history probably have been much different.

Will there still angels to God's people today? Thousands of people can confirm the fact that it makes there, and hundreds of magazine articles and books have been written to tell of visitations. We also have the following reminder from Hebrews:

Heb.13,1-2
Let brotherly love continue, do not forget hospitality, for by being hospitable, some without even knowing it had angels as guests.
